My name is Larry Pesavento. I have been a counselor and administrator in the mental health field for close to 30 years now. I have worked with people of all ages from toddlers to senior citizens. The last 15 years I have been especially interested in men's issues. I have been drawn to these issues the way most men have, through my own life crises. In trying to figure out my own life I came upon many parts of myself that didn't fit into conventional notions of psychological development. That realization led me on a journey that I am still on today.

The journey was helped along considerably when I attended a men's workshop put on by Michael Meade and Malidoma Some in the mid-80's. Their work on initiation and men's development allowed me to start naming some previously unrecognized parts of myself. Through self-reflection, reading, and sharing in the lives of many men who came to me for help I have added my own psychological insights to the work of what is now called the mythopoetic movement.

I started a men's center in 1993 both to learn more about men's psychological development as well as to share my insights, especially the insight that men have a deep need to be connected in community. I have found that men need other men in a variety of ways. The center is a place where men can meet that need. The center is a place that allows for a man's emotional, psychological and spiritual growth in a community of men.

The center offers individual counseling, group counseling, educational programs, men's retreats, and structured initiatory experiences. In addition it offers this web site as a continuance of the center's goal of men's growth.
