Welcome to Christos Center, the Online presence of Christos: A Center for Men. This Center started in 1993 to promote a dialogue among men to explore a new model of manhood in Western, post-industrial society. This dialogue is based on the assumption that the old, patriarchal model of manhood no longer works for men.

The word christos comes from Greek, and it means blessed or anointed. My assumption is that every man is called to perform a significant work in his life, and is given the talents to complete that work. The Center has been a meeting space for men to listen for that call, with the help of other men. This site will hopefully be a larger crossroads where men can help each other find their anointed direction.

The dialogue at the Center over these last years has motivated me to write a book on the psychological, emotional and spiritual journey toward manhood. The book is called Toward Manhood. I have now started a second book that continues a description of a man's psychospiritual path, called The Spirituality of Initiation. Feel free to download or print out these chapters. Feel freer to comment and suggest revisions. All chapters are Archived through links. Possible next steps are outilined on the Eldering page.

Most months there will also be a Thoughts page. These will be random ideas that I have thought of, or guests have thought of, that relate to themes in the book. There will also, periodically, be a new Book Review page describing a book mentioned in that month's chapter. A Bibliography page is linked to the book review and lists all the books and authors covered in Toward Manhood. All these books are suggested for any man wanting to explore these ideas further. Comments on any of these pages will be warmly accepted, especially about any of the reviewed books.

A page called Visions and Voices is a sacred space where men can share the poetry, fiction, photographs, and drawings that reflect their inner journey. Submissions gratefully accepted
